Wonderful fun read and true escapism. Daniel Silva continues in his style of writing a suspenseful and engaging read. Just good fun.

More like 3.5 stars. Probably the best book I've read in the series after [b:The English Girl|16248078|The English Girl (Gabriel Allon, #13)|Daniel Silva|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1371747020s/16248078.jpg|22590226].

***** Note: Possible Spoilers *****

Certainly better than The Black Widow, especially with the reintroduction of CK and less political diatribes, but yet I still do not feel this was in any way up to the standards of his older Gabriel Allon novels where Allon truly was the protagonist. Although I understand Mr. Silva's fixation with Israel, Isis and the horror of terrorism in general, most decent people in this world understand this, and don't need continual reminders. Also, this is by far not the only truly troubling issue in this world, and we may not need to worry about terrorism destroying the world, as we are doing a fine job ourselves.

That is why I can't help but feel his need to continue to write about bombings and terrorist acts has grown beyond an obsession into a compulsion, and one which unfortunately has become redundant and tiring. Mr. Silva, I think you are an extremely talented author whose characters are like old friends, stories are fast moving and intricate, and whose writing style is wonderful to read; so I am hopeful that we will see more of CK, more of espionage type story lines, and much, much less of terrorist based novels.

Once again, Daniel Silva has written a book that is terrifying in how real the plot COULD be. My only quibble with the book is that there was no art restoration involved.

Mr. Silvia has been able to do what Brad Thor has not....stay relevant and continue to write outstanding novels. This book did NOT disappoint. The plot was well crafted, the characters well developed. No plot holes formed and the story was not rushed. The ability to change Gabriel's "role" without diminishing his importance has been extremely well crafted.

Well done Mr. Silvia. Too bad I have to wait 340+ days for the next installment.
