I absolutely loved this book! However, I only give it four stars, because there was one part (which shall remain nameless) that still bothers me about it...a part I felt did not stay consistent with one of the characters. But other than that, I loved it!

My my, what a rollercoaster ride of emotions I went through reading this book, there was sadness, anger & despair. After reading this it left me drained and a little bit empty, I sat there a few moments just thinking about everything and then I had to do something happy to cheer myself up. Poor Katnis, she never gets a break from corruption, death & pain. There were two stages towards the end of the book that soemthing really terrible happened and I had to close the book and stop for a little while because I was so angry with the author for doing that to certain characters (I don't want to give too much away incase you haven't read it yet). In the end, I guess in war there's never a happy ending for the people who fought in it, they are always going to be left damaged in some way whether it be physical or mental. I also have to mention that I only gave this 4 stars instead of 5 like I did with the other two because it took getting past the first 100 pages before any kind of action happened. It wasn't like the other two in which at the end of every chapter there was a cliff hanger and I was desperate to find out what happened next. I will be interested to see how they will go making this into a movie because there's so much of it which is what's going on inside Katnis' head.

Suszanne Collins really did something with these books!

Best Dystopian YA written so far and a book that’s going to be read and loved by so many people for years to come.

The most amazing thing about this book, is probably the way we can learn, that the future is not to be taken for granted. We need to fight for freedom and righteousness so that humanity’s future may not look like this!

I loved the HungerGames Series. I do however always favor the 1st book in the series. Rarely do the sequels live up to the first but I would says Mockingjay and and Catching fire were just a hair shy of being equally great as hungergames just in different ways. If I hadn't loved the series as a whole so much I would have given Mockingjay 4 stars instead of 5. I was just ho-hum satisfied w/ the end. It felt rushed. In the last couple chapters I felt that more time could have been spent on somethings instead of others. I was content with the outcome but I think it could have been even greater. I'm hoping maybe the movie will make up for it.

Again, at the risk of giving things away, I am not going to say much. But here's what I loved about this book (and the trilogy):

--The flawed, relate-able characters
--The fact that the characters weren't always confident in their decisions
--The fact that we got to see how Kat thought and made up her mind about certain things
--The series didn't end the way I expected
--The twists and turns
--The surprises at the end of each chapter that kept me reading
--The creative and fantastic but very real setting
--The life lessons it taught
