we discussed this in class and it added a lot of background into who he was when he wrote the book and the time he was writing in. it’s a sad story but he makes it feel sympathetic which is weird but i see why he did it.

often Equiano mentions how tedious his book is and he is very right😝 goes on and on but it is very interesting to see such a perspective. he travelled much and saw much and did much. 

i wouldn’t expect an epic anti slavery narrative though. be warned that he even partakes in the slave trade in moments (although he commits the latter part of his life to abolition).
