I'm sadly underwhelmed by this graphic novel. I did like the artwork, but the dialogues and the severed heads that are still alive and talking, just didn't do it for me. The story wasn't that great either. It was all quite grotesque and shallow.

'Basketful of Heads' by Joe Hill with art by Leomacs and Riccardo La Bella is a graphic novel horror story that was a lot of fun to read.

It's the end of Summer and Jue is visiting her boyfriend Liam on Brody Island. He's been a temporary law enforcement officer and this is his last day. It's also the day 4 convicts have escaped from Shawshank, and before long June finds herself with a missing boyfriend and being hunted by killers. Fortunately for her, she's found an ancient ax that has mysterious properties, and before long, she's got a basketful of heads.

I had a great time reading this story. The mystery in the background has some nice twists and turns. The gore was fun, and the talking heads were kind of hilarious. The art is great, especially the included covers.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from DC Entertainment and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

So I read four of the Hill House collections from DC and this was probably my least favorite. It's not a bad story and had a bit of the old EC Comics black humor to it but it just didn't appeal to me as much as the other three I read. It's honestly more of a crime story with a touch of the supernatural and Norse mythology thrown in. Overall it's an interesting mystery and it unfolds quite well, but I simply just didn't enjoy it as much as the others...

Superb! A tale set during one fateful (or unfateful) night about drugs, corrupt cops, a tape full of evidence, an FBI mole, a suicide, and lot of talking heads. The story maintains the suspense throughout, and the way it reveals the juicy bits of information bit by bit helps tremendously in maintaining that suspense. The protagonist is someone for whom you root easily, and that makes the whole story a lot stronger. Very good!
