when will we finally take note that not every story needs romance!! the best parts of this book were non romantic but everything happened so damn fast that it was a mile a minute. so many endings felt so unsatisfactory, and i dont think i still even get how
the curse was even lifted! shin and mina's romance was so...it felt like it had to happen instead of it should have happened. everyone was so 2d and it made me wanna scream.
at least the writing is very pretty, but god, i wish we had more of that proper shim cheong retelling...especially since shim cheong is in this book!!

More like 3.5 if that was an option. As someone unfamiliar with Korean folklore and folktales it did feel like a was missing a few pieces when starting this book. However, once i really got in to it, that didn’t hinder my understanding much at all. This is so different from what I usually pick up when reading but it is a beautifully romantic fantasy. A wonderful cast of characters that make this world so full of life and color. I would love to see this world illustrated or come to life in a film.
