rushed way too fast. a month in and "i love you" already

Full of whimsy, myth, and stories of gods and magic, this sounded right up my alley. Unfortunately, it felt just a touch... not for me and I can't place why. I'm definitely going to need to reread this later when I'm in the mood for something whimsical. It's beautiful writing, fast paced, and I empathize with Mina. She's such a great character and I adore books with magpies in them, especially in relation to curses and magic. This is a solid 4 ⭐ read, but it felt there was something missing. I recommend this for those who love ancient myths and magic.

Im so sad about not finishing this book,
I really like the mythology and the korean folklore in it but i didn’t connected at all with the story or the characters. Its a great book but i al most ended up in a reading slump because of it.

I can't fully explain why, but reading this just felt like sinking into a hug. It reads like a fairy tale, with rich imagery, imaginative worldbuilding, and touches of whimsy around every corner. I felt effortlessly carried by the story and somehow comforted by the presence of the characters, like strangers you immediately feel at home with. I also appreciated that it took seriously the themes of grief and loss without getting overly heavy and while still retaining the comforting vibe. I'm looking forward to checking out more of Axie Oh's writing!
