I was excited to read this book based on the premise and whilst I enjoyed it I feel like there was just something missing that I can't quite put my finger on. It seemed like not very much happened and then everything happened at once. I would have liked more build up to the witch trials and I feel Maren and Ursa's relationship could have been explored more. However, I would definitely read a sequel that maybe followed Diinna, Maren and Ursa after the ending of this book.

This historical feminist novel explains some of the hardships womxnkind has had to endure in the best way possible. It is chilling and leaves you feeling grateful for the life you have. The romantic sub plot was so well done and the love was tender and raw.
