An interesting read. Very atmospheric and I really enjoyed the themes and the character relationships.

This was a tricky one to rate. I love this author's way with words and the quiet power of the descriptions. But I found the pace a little slow which affected my enjoyment. But I also can't stop thinking about it...
The reviews of this book are accurate; it certainly is gripping! The plot is quite a slow burner at the beginning but the second half I couldn't put down, Hargrave creates a very vivid island village and characters of its inhabitants, through both their cruelty and fear.
