I was so excited to read this and all I got were unrealistic characters with no motivs to their actions (at all!!! Like. Not a single reason for their behaviour. They do what they do because the 50th trope needs to happen), the most dry romance I have ever read and a very unstructured plot line?? Thanks a lot..

As someone who reads primarily adult fiction, the ya tropes just pulled me out of the story. But I think it's fine and perfectly enjoyable.

The island of Cadella is absolutely mesmerising and I loved every magical description of the salted brisk winds and colourful rows of homes and balconies. The story was gripping and maintained its power right through to the end. I did, however, wish I’d gotten to read more about Lina and Eva’s relationship, the world after the Dark Tide, and even the history of before. Despite being over 300 pages, I just wanted to know even more about the characters and their lives and homes.
