A fun little collection of stories about and from Watership Down; the book is a combination of El-ahrairah stories and narrative about the Watership rabbits. Though not nearly as compelling or well-written as the original, and certainly not functional as a stand-alone book, it's a pleasant read for this Watership fan who always wanted more.

If you loved Watership Down and wished it was about 200 pages longer, this book is for you.
It’s just a collection of stories. No overarching plot.
The audiobook was read by Simon Vance, one of my favorites. He does everyone perfect except for (strangely) Hazel. I’ve always imagined Hazel to be an “everyman” and not a “wise leader.” But this is a minor quibble.
The only reason it’s not five stars is because some of the stories are kinda throwaway.

Terrific. A surprising amount of horror elements, too (The Hole in the Sky, The Story of the Comical Field, The Rabbit's Ghost Story). I only wish it were longer.

In some ways, I thought this was more entertaining than Watership Down. Adams is a master storyteller, and the exploits of El-ahrairah are a rollicking good time. This makes me want to check out his other books.
Just okay. It's an anthology and none of the individual stories are particularly compelling. Doesn't have the same heart as the novel and doesn't really feel like there was much point in publishing it

The stories about El-ahrairah were pleasant enough but not really to my taste. I just wanted more stories about Hazel & Fiver and the rest of the rabbits at Watership Down. Part III gave me this, but a collection of short stories rather than a coherent whole. Not bad, but not magical like [b:Watership Down|76620|Watership Down (Watership Down, #1)|Richard Adams|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1405136931l/76620._SY75_.jpg|1357456].
