It is a cute little love story that makes you smile and forget about your problems.
I listen to 5/6 of the audiobook in one day and then it took a week to finish it because I already knew exactly how it would end and I cringed so hard just thinking about it. Why do romcoms always portray public love declarations as this super romantic gesture? I would die of embarrassment!
I listened to the audiobook for free on Spotify and am very glad I didn‘t waste money on this. I enjoyed listening to it but won‘t ever reread it. I don‘t know if I would recommend this to anyone. There are many similar or better books out there.

This is the perfect example of “don’t judge a book by its cover”. At first I was so skeptical about it thinking it would be a typical rom com but what a turn of events.
I love the evolution of the characters and the fact that even the “bad ones” have a background and sore of logical explanation for their behavior. Wasn’t a black or white world
I love the chemistry between Brian and Ella that I wish it was a “happily ever after” after a few years
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! Very fun, surprisingly poignant.
great story. loved that the friendship was genuine between the main characters. since one of the main characters was famous i was worried that the other would take advantage, but when you find out what happens to the girl you understand that she just needs friendship. beautifully written.
I read this book for the first time years ago when I was in highschool.. I just had to pick it up for a reread again now. I forgot how much I love this book. It's campy, it's cheesey, it's tragic... and I absolutely love how over the top it is. I ordered the second one as soon as I finished it and I cannot wait to read it. Devoured this entire book in one sitting

Did I enjoy this book and the storyline? Yes, yes I did.
But...
Bu God, the number of assholes — the mother, the father, the step-mother, the step-sister, the school principal, the students — and asshole moves in this book really wanted me to rip my hair off.
●● The father fell in love with the step-mother while he was married to Ella's mother and I can understand that part because the marriage between Ella parents was forced. No issue there. But the audacity of the step-sisters to say that Ella was destroying their family because of her attitude? Fuck you! That girl lost her father years ago, thanks to you three and that asshole never even looked back but claimed to love her? And her mother in an accident a few months ago and you are worried about how it affects you? Seriously?
●● The step-mother is an insensitive stupid bimbo. She was more worried about how it would make her look than how the whole ordeal would effect Ella.
●● The father. It is revealed that he never loved her mother and that's okay. But to hate your own daughter and forget about her because the woman you married was pissy with you? I'm sorry but that makes you a Grade A asshole in my book. Ella was born because you two weren't safe, so for either of them to project their dislike towards each other on Ella was big HELL NO.
●● The principal. Umm.. Yeah, so according to this asshole because Ella wasn't exactly making friends and wasn't interacting with anybody she should be taken out of the school and put in a school with children who had special needs. Can you see the amount of bull-shit here? I'm sorry but you and your staff are incompetent fucks who don't deserve to run the school because you have no control over the students.
The only character who I think was an asshole due to legitimate reasons was Ella.
I know, I know, this review is contradictory. I did enjoy this story but these people were too much. I have to say the almost end portion, where Ella is in a therapy institute and has sessions to help her through her grief was my favourite. I also like how it was individual and family-centred together rather than having romance as the central plot.
