This book wasn't right for me.
The story was engaging, but not enough for me to push through to the very end.
With more understanding of disabilities and more realistic characters, this story could have been fantastic.
I was hoping for a book that represented the humanity of people living with disabilities, and though this was a step toward that it falls a bit short. Ella "was" beautiful before her body became significantly scarred (from burns) . . . and that seems to be important later. Since most of her beauty remains, people can like her. It's mentioned quite often. Her pain and recovery seemed more plot device and less constant condition. Those things hang on the back burner until they're relevant to the plot.
Also, several adult characters join Ella in her opinion that she doesn't belong with "those" disabled people who go to a school exclusively for people dealing with disabilities . . . as though they're lesser beings.
The romance felt contrived to me.
And that boy is incredibly unlikeable. He's snobby and the way he talks about/treats his fake fiancee made my skin crawl. (The fake fiancee is written like a cardboard prop of shallow evil. She didn't feel believable. The story would have had much more depth had she had any emotions beyond power-lust and had he had an ounce of empathy.)

Ich mochte dieses Buch sehr. Mir gefiel die Protagonistin Ella sehr, weil sie so taff war. “Cinder” mochte ich nicht soo gerne aber er war ok.
Insgesamt hat mir die Geschichte gut gefallen und ich fande die Entwicklung der Charaktere sehr spannend.

Also als erstes : Wow! Cinder & Ella ist eine unendlich süße Geschichte! Ich mochte das Buch wirklich sehr. Es hat mir eine schöne Zeit geboten. Mit ein Drama, Herzschmerz und Kitsch hat es mich von der Realität entführt. Das hat es wirklich gut hinbekommen.
Ella und auch Cinder waren tolle Protagonisten deren Emotionen und Reaktionen sehr authentisch zur Situation sind. Die Nähe zwischen den Charakteren hat mir ebenfalls sehr gut gefallen. Allerdings habe ich einige Kritikpunkte.
Das, was ich an dem Buch so mochte fing erst spät richtig an. Etwa ab Seite 288 begann ich, das Buch wirklich lieb zu gewinnen. Davor fand ich viele Dinge einfach sehr unrealistisch. Einige Handlungen der Charaktere um Ella herum fand ich einfach nicht logisch. Es kam mir einfach wie überzogenes Drama vor. Ich hätte mir ein paar Hinweise darauf gewünscht, dass Anastasia und Ellas Vater auch Gefühle haben. Vielleicht ist es naiv und gutgläubig von mir zu glauben, dass niemand so offensiv bösartig sein kann, aber das ist nunmal meine Meinung. Ich sage ja auch nicht, dass ich nicht glaube, dass Menschen nicht böse sein können, allerdings kam Ana mir oft einfach viel zu skrupellos vor. Allerdings war das nur bis zu einem gewissen Punkt so. Es wurde durch das Buch wirklich besser! Auch bei ihrem Vater. Alles in allem ist das ein wirklich gutes Buch und ich mochte es auch sehr gern, aber wie gesagt, diese Kritikpunkte habe ich nunmal.
Mittlerweile habe ich mich für sehr gute 3,5 Sterne entschieden. ❤️
