Giddy and smiling!
I stumbled upon this book earlier today and thought it sounded super cute. I am so happy I decided to read it because it did not disappoint! It’s was such an easy read and though certain aspects didn’t seem realistic to me I still fell in love with the characters. I just had to stay up way past my bedtime to finish the book. I’m a sucker for a fairytale retelling and though this was just as predictable as Cinderella it made me smile. Looking for a light and fun read?? Check out Cinder and Ella! I’ll be picking up the next in they series for sure!

Another book that reads like a movie!
This book is a great mixture of adorable and angst.
The characters' problems are not shallow. They're actually quite heavy, but the author still managed to bring the feeling of lightheartedness to the table.
Ella, our heroine, needs a good support system. Her accident left her with scars inside and out. She feels as if she's all alone. Frankly speaking, as a reader, I also felt like she's all alone. :( I know, I know. I kind of hated her remaining family too. As she continue to antagonize them, they also somewhat push back. It was a nightmare. She only has this one true friend - an online one... Cinder.
Cinder is a star. Yep. He's this hot Hollywood star who's a closet geek. This guy also feels so alone because of all the fake people that surrounds him. Everyone has a hidden agenda. The one that he treats as a real friend is Ellamara, the blogger who has become his daily lifeline for three years.
It's no wonder that their relationship crossed the boundaries of just-friends. They're just too compatible! I love just how they react with one another. I love their IM banters. I love how they formed a bond and I love just what having each other means to the both of them.
Sooo.. The next step that should be done is that they meet each other, kiss and be together, right?
If only it's that easy.
Ella is not in a good place.
Cinder is in a tight spot too.
Things couldn't get more complicated.
They experience a lot of trouble before they finally get their happily ever after.
When people taunt her, I almost want to go inside the book and shake everyone. When Cinder just lets other people say what he has to do, I want to grab him from the book and knock some sense outta him.
I think what people should look forward here is Ella's reaction to each thing that goes her way. How does she cope? What are her thoughts? And Cinder? How does he break free from all the fake stuff?
It all gets answered here.. So you better read it!! ^_^
All in all.. Even with all the complications, I still enjoyed reading this. It really felt like I was watching a movie! :)

Plot
When Ellamara is on her way for a special treat on her birthday with her mom, a car accident happens in which her mom dies and leaves Ella with severe scars and pain. After months of coma and surgeries and no other closer relatives to care for her, she has to move to Los Angeles to her estranged father who has left Ella and her mom when Ella was 7 years old. She somehow manages through the trauma and pain with anonymous Cinder at her side, a friend she has found when he had commented on her blog entry on Ella’s favorite book series The Druid Prince three years ago. They seem to know each other inside and out but are hesitant to meet and embrace reality. Also, Ella has her scars and trauma hidden while Cinder in reality is Brian Oliver, the upcoming actor who is going to play Cinder in The Druid Prince movie adaptation. Will a meeting happen and what are the risks of revealing their true identities?
My opinion of Cinder & Ella
Having needed a break from A Promised Land by Barack Obama, I welcomed Cinder & Ella pretty easily and binge-read it within a day. That’s how addicting it was to read, plus the writing style wasn’t too complicated and had a flow that made me read fast.
It was dramatic, cheesy and fluffy, nothing too complicated, apart from the relationship of Ella and Cinder, which is in fact complicated. Sometimes I thought that Ella was too whiny because she basically cried all the time, on the other hand I really understood why she was crying and was sad? Maybe it‘s just not a book to read in one sitting but to digest it a bit from time to time, so I can process Ella’s emotions better.
Also, I enjoyed the fact that both Cinder and Ella were fantasy nerds who enjoy the same series. Even so much that Ella cosplays as her namesake Ellamara from The Druid Prince series at a convention that happens in the book. She’s a book blogger (like myself, so that was another fun aspect of that book) and apparently gets tons of books to review (which I don’t) and has Cinder at her side to bicker with (okay, this is getting frustrating). Apart from that great trauma of a car accident and losing her mom within the blink of an eye, I could relate to her. Apart from the constant crying part and the evil stepsisters she got by moving in with her father’s new family.
Cinder, in real life called Brian, on the other hand is this young uprising actor with a movie director father that in my opinion resembles Michael Bay with his action movie affirmation. Brian is constantly featured on Hollywood Gossip TV and allegedly sleeps around. In contrast to Ella, nobody would have guessed that Brian is a nerd inside, simply because Hollywood is only interested in “who is with whom” and simply is too shallow to look beyond the surface. But the fact that Brian dropped everything and everyone as soon as he found out that Ella, who has stopped writing and texting months ago, wrote him back after all his time, showed that he’s loyal and willing to do anything for her.
That turned out to become annoying after a while because Brian simply was too good to be true and way too smooth. Yes, Ella got enough on her plate, but Brian being nothing but the perfect boyfriend got boring after some time. Although, this book was as stressful as it was, so maybe Brian being smooth and non-problematic evened it all out.
Altogether, I enjoyed reading it and man I was so happy to discover that it was an actor/unknown character romance. Those happen far too rarely in my opinion and when they happen they are way too bad to say anything good about them.
Conclusion
I give 4 out of 5 stars to Cinder & Ella by Kelly Oram. It’s a light and fast read that I can recommend to everyone who liked to read Young Adult Romance with a hint of Hollywood.

Ich würde am liebsten 54563 Sterne vergeben! :D
