Good book even for someone who's never played LoL
I did a mix of listening and reading with this book. The audiobook was pretty amazing - great cast and production values. As for the story itself, it was pretty solid. Maybe meandered a bit early on but pretty good payoffs that I appreciated even without the strong connections to the characters.

I was so excited when I found this book, though very nervous too. I am so pleased to say this novel shattered my expectations. The depth it brings to the league of legends champions featured and the way it weaves them all together to tell a pivotal story in Runeterra is incredible. The characters feel filled with such life and their motives and morals become so known to the reader. The way magic and combat are written is exhilarating. I love the choice of Kalista as the main protagonist. It seemed an odd one before reading but I felt so right as I got to know Kalista before the ruination and can stand right with her afterwards. Everything felt thoughtful and the care for the world was immense. The novel can 100% stand by itself if you are not a League of Legends fan as well. A great read.

il y avait vraiment de l'idée, et j'ai bien aimé Kalista mais vu que ça venait d'un jeu très connu (auquel je n'ai jamais joué d'ailleurs) je pensais que l'univers serait incroyable mais c'est extrêmement plat, tout comme l'action et les personnages :/ il y a eu des moments palpitants mais sinon on souffle

I was entertained enough by the book probably because I had a lot of background exposition and information as a LoL player but the writing and pacing could have been much better.

Quite a boring read. Follows the usual script of "mad king" and "warrior" fantasy story lines. Characters and plot line lacks depth and is quite shallow
