even after knowing what would happen, i’m so sad it happened

This was fine. Not sure if this is a normal example of a video game tie-in or if this is worse/better.

The plot and characters were simple to the point of middle grade. Although maybe that's unfair to middle grade that can be fun and nuanced.

The protagonist ended up about as smart as a doorknob and never learned her lesson. The villain was moustache-twirling to the point of cackling. The antagonist was frustrating and his end never materialized in catharsis.

The ending was long and unsatisfactory but the pacing was largely snappy and it was, ultimately, and easy read to get through for a conversation with friends. I liked the ship captain well enough.

Ruination was an alright read. The plotline and settings were interesting enough to keep me entertained, and the book was definitely finishable (for someone who regularly DNF books if they do not interest me), though the characters seemed flat, not much relatable and otherwise cliche'd. It was very Arthurian minded, which I enjoyed, however it made many things predictable about the storyline and the character's decisions. It was overall an alright read, and by no means do I regret reading this. However if he mentions one more time how tall Ledros is....

Really cool Novel story about the lore of the main characters Kalista, Thresh and Ryze from the game League of Legends. It’s placed 1000 years ago before the ruination. It's really cool to read about how they each have their own problems and view of things. Going along the story you’ll get to meet different champions, some are mentioned and some you’ll have to know the lore for a bit to understand. It really hypes me up everytime a new Champion of the game is introduced. The story gives Royalty, high/lowborn, pirates and betrayal vibes with corrupted politics.

The audiobook is incredibly well acted. You don’t need to know anything about League of Legends to enjoy this.

I picked this up expecting a light, video game inspired flick. A tie in novel - no more, no less. It was exactly that for about the first half of the book. Like a visit to disney land I got to see all my favourite characters, even if some of their presence in the story felt very contrived. But the book really picked up steam in the later half - when the Ruination begins and the bad ending I've known for years rolls onto the characters like an avalanche. It felt so bad to read about it, but so cathartic as well.

A really fun read, probably not just for League Fans.
