Genuinely thrilled that I made it here after the first book. We really didn't get any movement on the main plot line, but the side plots were on point in this book.

The ghost mystery was actually interesting (and not quite so depressing), the friendship development was fantastic, and Kiera's character development was phenomenal especially given the fact that she still knows nothing about herself. She's using her instincts to forge a new life, a new home, and it's really enjoyable to read.

Hoping the trajectory of this series continues its upward momentum from here.

This is pretty similar to book one in the series so I don't have much to say. The series is veering into 'paranormal mystery thriller' even more than the first one and I think I slightly prefer that vibe over the attempts at horror that didn't land with me in the first book.

The cosy found family vibes are even stronger which is to be expected as we get to know Kira's friends and the town a bit better. We also get a few more crumbs about Kira's mysterious past, though it's only a very small part of this book.

I'm definitely having just enough fun to keep reading as it's fairly easy to get through, but unfortunately that means that it also is still not blowing me away and so I can't really rave about it or say much other than: it's a simple and fun semi-cosy spooky time.

An entertaining read! I stepped into this series without having read the first book, but it was super easy to follow along with what was happening. The protagonist can be a bit annoying at times --purely just because she goes off and does her own thing without telling anyone about her plans, which then gets her into trouble-- but all in all, the writing was good and I look forward to reading the next book!
Thank you to the publisher for sending me a copy in exchange for my review.
