I love Darcy Coates’ books! I call them comfy horror, because they’re spooky, but not so spooky that I can’t read them before bed. Her main characters are always women (or at least they are in all of her books I’ve read so far) which also helps me enjoy them more.
That being said, this one was not one of my favorites. It felt like the first chapter was missing. I kept going back to the beginning, thinking I’d missed a few pages because it felt like things were missing. I know the author was trying to let the details unravel as the story was told, but a few too many important details were missing for me to really understand what was going on for a lot of the story. That being said, the story flowed really well, and I loved the friendship between Keira, Mason, and Zoe- I want to be friends with the three of them in my life! I loved the town they lived in and all of the unique characters in it. Although this wasn’t my favorite Darcy Coates read, I still really enjoyed it and would recommend it to others who enjoy “comfy horror.”

This one was simultaneously dumber, more frustrating, and more predicatable all at the same time which is such a shame lol

Did Darcy put some drug in these books or what? Could not put this down! It was easy to follow, amazing plot twists and captivating story telling! Very much rooting for Keira and Mason to end up together (I will always be a romance girl at heart). Next one in the series is already added to my May TBR!

Thankyou to Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 3rd Darcy Coates book I have read and probably the best one! Continuing on from the first book Keira and her friends are faced with an evil entity which was foreshadowed in the first book.
I really loved the plot of this one, much like the first one but in this one I felt there was more build up and a better climax with better action and resolution for the ending than the first one where it felt it was too easily resolved.
I really hope there is going to be a third book in this series as there is still the unanswered question of who Keira really is and who is the organisation after her. I would be really excited to see where this goes. :)
