I liked how small connections to the events of the first book were revealed and we saw how their parents lives made the three of them the way they are.

This is the prequel to Savages. If you liked that....you will really enjoy this one. Not only do we get to follow the adventures of Chon, Ben and O, but a cast of characters is added with surprising connections.

Fun, fast, punchy read. This is my second Winslow book and I am becoming a fan.

This is the prequel to [b:Savages|8008928|Savages|Don Winslow|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1368577399s/8008928.jpg|12548735] and while not quite as powerful this was still a very good look at the California drug trade. I loved the writing style of both books, the humor, and thought the narration of the audio by Holter Graham was quite good.

Pretty unnecessary and diminishing prequel to the far better novel Savages. Really annoyingly connects all the characters past in a completely gratuitous way. meh.

Compelling, fast-moving, escapist. Prequel to Don Winslow's "Savages."

Love Winslow - everything he does is fantastic. Best crime writer out there right now.

I like the stream of consciousness writing. The two stories were good but crazy coincidental. A fast read.
