Je me suis enfin laissé tentée par ce livre qui était dans ma pal depuis bien trop longtemps. J’ai laissé de côté mes préjugés et j’ai tenté l’aventure.
Et qu’est-ce que je ne le regrette pas! Je suis amoureuse de cette saga et j’en suis déjà au troisième!

This book gets a lot of crap for the story and the way it has been portrayed, but there is a decent story within the novel. One of the issues though, is with the way the story is told. There's a lot of repetitive language that gets old after a while and the story doesn't move at a reasonable pace. Like I said, there's a good story in the book somewhere, you just have to work for it and ignore quite a few things. I could go on and on about the things I disliked or the areas of the novel that worked, but I won't. For me, the things that worked were the concept of small town girl meets ancient vampire. The things that didn't include the sparkling, some of the writing, and a few concerning issues (such as Edward being stalkerish and Bella being okay with that.)

I do not understand the fascination with this book I really don’t. It’s the only book that I’ve read multiple times (at least 4 over the years). And I can count on one hand how many books I’ve reread. It’s not the best written book by far but there is just something about it that’s captivating.
internalized misogyny and the harry potter vs twilight rivalry kept me from reading this when it was relevant; if only 12 year old me could see 25 year old me
