Milk Fed had me on the edge of my seat. A gripping tale of food, sex, and the challenging relationship we can have with both. 

I loved to see the growth Rachel experienced regarding her eating disorder and the blossoming relationship she formed. 

While the ending is logical and makes complete sense, I was disappointed that

Miriam and Rachel didn't work out. But being an orthodox jew, her parents where never going to be supportive of their relationship.

 

I felt it was incredibly timely for the characters to have an argument over Palestine and Israel. 

I wanted so badly for Milk Fed to be a 5 star Read, but the ending really left something to be desired for me. It's ineffable.

Rachel has a lot of things to work through that can make her a tough character to like, especially at the start, but I think it is a very honest story about personal growth and undoing generational trauma.

The ending was open and unsatisfying in a very realistic way, the way life doesn’t exactly wrap up neatly.

This was my first book by Broder and I will certainly be reading more. I did have a heads up this would be weird going in which I think helped, but I think the weird was used well and was necessary.

I personally liked the ending, however, I get why others didn't. I like endings where there is some realism about how much people are able/willing to change for each other, but I definitely get that it's frustrating
