This was my first book by Broder and I will certainly be reading more. I did have a heads up this would be weird going in which I think helped, but I think the weird was used well and was necessary.
I personally liked the ending, however, I get why others didn't. I like endings where there is some realism about how much people are able/willing to change for each other, but I definitely get that it's frustrating

This was honestly a really fun story, but I can’t say I particularly liked any of the characters. They’re all train wrecks.

This book was incredibly good, but also just as upsetting to read as someone recovering from an eating disorder. I’m far enough that I am okay, but please be warned

like. i just with that both the eating disorder section of this book and the gay sex section of this book were better. i feel like they fell flat both in character progression and just like plot-line-logic. like how did she learn how to mother herself so quickly? trust me, your mommy issues aren’t just magically solved after 50 days of no communication. and, furthermore, i thought the way broder attempted to cover this up by being like the world will hurt you again and again but you will come back to me. was just like. okay.
as an ex-roman-catholic, i always appreciate insight into the daily lives of people of other strong/intense religions (such as judaism)  so i liked being able to see that here.
miriam also felt, to me, though, a character that we never really learned about? like i never realllyyy understood what her connection was with her family that made her choose them so often, and so whenever she did it just felt out of the blue to me.
at times i felt that the humor of the book was cheesy or bad, but other times i found it genuinely funny.
overall, weird book. kind of triggering, and then erotic. i wouldn’t read it again. definitely skip like the first 50 pages if you’ve ever had any sort of eating disorder if you don’t want to be triggered.

A little too erotic for my tastes, but definitely an eye-opener. Following the main characters changing relationship with food, her own body, religion and other characters was riveting. I read this book in a day! To this who don’t like sex or sexual desire openly stated in a book, this is not the one for you!
