Had to finish this book before Marathon Monday! Really enjoy following Des’ story and the structure of the book. I wish it showed a little MORE of the silliness and joy I’ve found highlighted other places? But overall a great book if you love running/the fierce women who rock the sport.

Listening to the audiobook I got lost in the timeline a handful of times. Without dates or benchmarks of time it was hard to know what race or training period she was in. That said, I loved the glimpse into professional running, marathon paces and famous routes.

I was so excited to see the Des had written a book. I have been a huge fan since I started running about 8 years ago. This book is an honest story of her running journey and struggles. It is so inspirational. The book goes back and forth between her running journey and the 2018 Boston Marathon. As I was reading the chapters of the Boston Marathon, it totally took me back to watching it on my phone a work. Trying to imagine what it would feel like running in that cold, rainy and windy weather for 26.2 miles. Absolutely amazing!

Wow, this was much better than I thought it would be. Not sure why I went in with such low expectations, but this was extremely well written and very enjoyable. I love reading people's stories and this one is no exception

I’ve always admired Des Linden and her love of music, books and bourbon in addition to running make for a great read.

As Angela Duckwork wrote in her review on the back cover, Des’s story is one “of grit and grace.” Des was already a role model for so many people, including me. Reading her story takes my respect for her to a whole new level.
Choosing to Run is set up in a fun-to-read way, making it nearly impossible to put down. Stupid responsibilities got in the way of reading it in one sitting (though I would have had I been patient enough to wait until an obligation-free day to read).
I’m proud to have this one on my shelf and will be rereading for years to come.
