DID NOT FINISH: 27%

Struggling to get through this one, finally decided not to fight it

I love Rick Riordan ... But this series was tough to get through.
In fact I took a long time to finally read the last book.
I read the first two and then left the last one for quite a bit.

Maybe I did not love the characters?
I really don't know why, but I just could not get into it.

Much as I like Riordan's style and enjoy his other series, something about the Kane Chronicles just didn't grab me like the others. I don't know if it was the change in mythological focus, or the different way the gods and their manifestations were treated, but I couldn't get into these books so much. Few of the characters really struck me, even though it was written in first person. The switching of character POV continued to confuse me a bit. Sadie and Carter each tell the story in first person, switching every other chapter, but I kept forgetting who was telling what part when they were together.

While I'll probably donate my books to the library, I'll certainly keep reading Riordan's works. They're always entertaining and action-packed, but I will admit my heart lies with Percy Jackson's world for now.
