There’s a lot going on in this book but I think the author did a very good job organizing the narrative in a way that makes it easy enough to follow. Even as someone who was not around at the time and lacks some of the context, I was still able to keep track of what the author was offering up.
The book is full of interesting information that leaves room for reasonable doubt around the “why” but never attempts to challenge (for obvious reasons) the “who”. It gives the reader as much of a look as possible into the questionable dealings of the CIA and various other law enforcement agencies. Begging the question - what was being covered up?
While O’Neill will never have all the answers, it’s been a worthy endeavor in my opinion. He’s shed light on the unseen and, likely, left a lot more people with questions. Enough that, perhaps someday, we might have more answers than rejections and redacted documents.

25% about Manson/the family, 25% about Bugliosi/Helter Skelter, 25% about MK Ultra/conspiracies, 25% about himself.
Every “revelation” is held together by limp, red string, and hope that O’Neill can one up his adversary Bugliosi.
