el que menos me ha gustado de todos hasta ahora, estuvo bastante aburrido :(
This book was very intriguing from the beginning. In a future world, humans start showing signs of the dormant alien DNA long buried. Neera's development was stunted and malformed after her mother's drug use during pregnancy. Now the atmosphere on Earth is killing her and there's no signs her development will change any time soon. To leave the planet is also basically out of the question, with one exception. Singing onto the Prime Mating Agency match making service. She can be matched to someone from a planet that she can breath safely on, and the entire cost of her transfer is covered. She is quickly matched to Echo and so begins their love story.
I was very intrigued by the premise of this series, and this book in particular. However, it really let me down the further into the story we got. It's fairly short, barely over 250 pages, but the connection was instant. I did appreciate Neera's constant pushing past social barriers she wasn't used to (going topless, different customs) she would have a moment of insecurity before quickly pushing out of her comfort zone if it meant fitting in. I did love that aspect of her character. Instead, it was the way everything felt really rushed. The romance seemed very fast, emotionally, then in the last few chapters when her development was triggered, everything happened so fast. It felt like whiplash. She was spending days in a coma, she was developing new talents, then bam next coma. It felt so rushed, so very poorly explained, and it was just too much all at once. It really took me out of the story, and overall is why I demoted it a star.
Great story, great premise, bad final few chapters- way too fast of story development. A good time, a quick read, and I could see how it might be someone's favorite, but it's not mine.

I read all the Prime Mating Agency books in 2 days and… no regrets. I Married a Merman wound up being my second fav, after the first book.
I really liked the backstory given to Neera, the heroine, who has been dealing with a mysterious illness on Earth. Doctors don’t know what’s wrong but basically the air/atmosphere is suffocating her.
She’s given an option “out” by the Prime Mating Agency: they will rehome her to a planet where she can live freely, but she needs to marry.
Enter, Echo. Basically, a pink and ginger merman.
I love how well thought out Regine’s heroes are, in terms of their species, their planets, their cultures. Each one is so distinct and while some are a little… strange… to our human selves, we get to experience them firsthand with the heroine.
There was great conflict and a super cheery ending though I feel I should give a blanket warning to all these books that they’re kind of breeder romances - you know, to further the alien species.

me gusta la tapa? no, porque no entiendo la necesidad de tener un tipo en cuero pero ok. es un romance de un nicho raro? también. me pareció sólida la construcción del mundo de los sirenos (2 escenas de sexo)
