I'm really conflicted on how to rank this book. I'm honestly a little embarrassed I read it without knowing the history before picking it up so I'm writing this review as a warning to others. I read a version published in the 90s. Within the first few pages, there is deeply antisemitic and racist language. I understand it is a classic and that times have changed, but the language was offensive to me. Still, I read on. Overall I liked the story, though I preferred Christie's other famous work Murder On the Orient Express better. I actually thought the "twist" at the ending was kind of cheap as it didn't seem all that plausible. I do appreciate this book for inventing a trope so I will credit it for that. Here's why I gave it such a low rating -- I read this book with the title And Then There Were None. That is not the original title. Google the original title and you will learn just how racist this book actually is. I wish I had researched this book before or I would not have picked it up.

Although the writing and storytelling was absolutely phenomenal, I found the racism and hint of misogyny offputting. It might be from a different era, but it was uncomfortable to read at times. Nevertheless, the tension could be cut with a knife and I was left guessing the culprit until the very last chapter.
The beginning was difficult to follow, as all of the characters were introduced in a single chapter, but as the story continued, it was easier to differentiate them.

I would just like to say that my review is based solely on the writing, plot, etc. and not the author. The author is extremely racist and I would not have read this if I had to pay for it, I got it from the library. But that aside, I enjoyed the plot and overall concept a ton. However I was able to guess the ending slightly which was disappointing.
