[1939] Felt like a warm-fuzzy trip down memory lane, back to when I was graduating from The Famous Five and Nancy Drew to “grownup” books; if I remember correctly, quite a few Agatha Christies made it into the mix during that time. My impression of this one now is that the writing is overly simplistic, the dialogue unconvincing, and the plot completely unrealistic from beginning to end. Would ordinarily be a 1 or a 2 star and maybe even a DNF for me. But despite all this, somehow she totally gets away with it and I was actually quite charmed. While I probably won't pick up another one any time soon, I totally understand the enduring appeal of the classic Agatha Christie murder mystery.

I forgot how great this book is! Ayla was reading it for her 8th Grade English class and I wanted to read it with her. Very fun mystery. If you don't remember who did it then grab a copy of this book and read it again.
