Just over a third of the way through this book there is a scene in which one of the protagonists is "forgiving" her (dying, unconscious) father for entirely nebulous reasons and she goes on this weird, unnaturally-constructed rant, about his misogyny in a way that I can't possibly imagine anyone ever would in that situation, particularly when their dad was a generally hateful old bastard anyway.
This is fairly representative of this book as a whole to me. It's just a fucking mess.
