I really dislike Gormflaith; she doesn't seem to have any redeeming qualities. I can't decide if I find Fódla likeable because of the contrast, or for her own sake.

Sensational

Everything I wanted, plus a huge ass bonus of everything I needed. Since completing The Rise of Sigurd Trilogy and The Siege Trilogy, I've been on the hunt for a hist fic that I could sink my teeth into. Found it!

Ms Shauna's everything was to my taste, but her MCs!!! Not a woman ruthless for bants...I guess there's the whole thing about how she's obsessed with her son. But Gormflaith, let's tell the truth: you're a narcissist. You wouldn't be here if you weren't. It's okayyy, our little secret

Solid debut! I really enjoyed the characters and learning what drove them to do what they did. It was a bit slow at times, but I’m definitely interested in picking up the sequel.

This weaves historical fiction and fantasy in such a rich and beautiful way. This is for my mythology lovers, Viking history aficionados, and fantasy enjoyers alike. You should read this if you also want to read about strong complex female characters (hello murderous mommy Gormflaith). Very heavy on the history and a slower read, but am still very excited to read the rest of series after this strong setup.
