Spoilers for books 1 & 2 I guess but not for this one

I thought book two was a set up book this was even more so. The beginning dragged on for too long and the real action only hit in the last quarter really.

Mare’s imprisonment became a real drag and she became quite annoying, happy puppeting for Maven and silently stewing but not really doing much to keep you rooting for her to figure out an escape.

I still like the characters and want to know how it ends but my keenness is dropping the more they drag out these middle books.

I’m not sure about this Montfort and am interested to see how Aveyard takes it in the final book.

We did get a couple more povs in this book, Cameron and Evangeline which added some interest away from Mare.

I didn’t like the ending of this one, it felt too cop out-y from both Aveyard and Mare. Mare of book 1 would not react like that.

Maven’s development carries the first half of this book and I enjoyed getting a look deeper into who he is.

This one was better than the second, but not as good as the first.
I really do want to know what happens in the end, but u do t have 2 more credits and hours of time left I. me to put into this series. There is just so much that could have been left out, making a 5 book series into a 2 book Duology or MAYBE a 3 book Trilogy. I can't take the lingering drawn-out yawn and slowwwwwwww burn romance any longer.
This has such great potential, and the author is very creative, but it's just... enough, I guess.

Book 1 =
