DNF.  Too much suspension of disbelief.  Weird stuff happens, the protagonist asks why, and no one gives a definitive answer.

We LOVE a Killer Queen! I'm desperate for a sequel. Latavia is gonna be like the Steve Irwin of Lovecraftian Monsters just making deals and dealing out Woman's Wrongs!

Monstrous is an intriguing concept of who is offered as sacrifice to a giant snake. She is kidnapped and assaulted. Latavia strikes a deal with the snake to stave off being eaten. She will help him get his revenge on the person who wronged him so many years ago. The book was interesting in the beginning but kind of veered off to repetitive plot points. I wish there was more. More anything. At times I felt underwhelmed by the storyline. The ending lacked a climatic battle. I did enjoy how the author tackled PTSD and other serious issues. I really enjoyed the author’s debut, Bad Witch Burning. This entry just didn’t grab my affections the same way. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC.

Really enjoyed the book. The MC was giving insufferable teen vibes in the beginning for a hot second
