GOD I LOVED THIS BOOK!! If there’s one thing about me I LOVE a book with a little baby and MAXIE MY LOVE YOU WERE THE BEST ONE !! The dynamic between Miller, Max, and Kai was so so beautiful and I was hooked from the first page. The way that everyone worked so SEAMLESSLY TOGETHER UGH I LOVED IT! Isaiah, Travis, Cody, Monty, Kennedy, Ryan, Indy, Zee, Rio, and Stevie like omg i’m so obsessed. Everyone works so perfectly together and the love they all have is so pure and strong. The way Monty KNEWWW from the beginning those two were it for each other was the best thing ever. And the way max was trying to say Mama for weeks LIKE MY HEART MY BABY I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. MAX GOD THE BEST BABY EVER. The love in this little family of three was so special and I felt the love coming through the pages. Now Mr. Baseball Daddy Malakai “Kai” Rhodes. You are something else entirely. Anytime your name was on the page it was something amazing. I was never upset with you or had any issue, you always were so mature and knew exactly what you needed to do and look out for everyone even when you could be selfish sometimes. You are the absolute GREATEST DAD to little Max and you’ve raised him so well especially since you’ve been on the road for so long with him it’s the most amazing thing ever to see a man be a good dad. And not to mention the way you raised Isaiah when you were teenagers and did everything you could to make sure he grew up right like omg. You are genuinely such an perfectly well rounded person and I couldn’t ask for ANYTHING more. NOW MY QUEEN CHEF MILLER MONTGOMERY DOUBLE FISTING AT 9AM TYPE SHI. COVER OF FOOD AND WINE AT 25 WITH A JAMES BEARD AWARD OKAYYYY. I am absolutely in love with you. You’re so iconic, caring, kind, beautiful, intelligent, talented, and so funny i’m always cackling. You have turned a 2 month hiatus into your entire life and I love how it worked out for you. The sacrifices you made just so that you can feel as though Monty could have the life he wanted is so strong of you even if it was completely wrong. The way you love your people is so beautiful and how you would do anything for those men named with an M. I absolutely loved the scene where you sped to the field to show Kai Max’s first steps or the M&M cookie with max like god. You are the most amazing mother and you slipped into the role so easily in a way that made me so happy to see you all together. This little family of 3 is one of the sweetest i’ve seen and I’m so grateful for this story to have found my way. 10/10 writing, absolutely amazing storyline. Loved it.
2.5 Stars. Favourite one in the series so far, although I feel like too much of the book was focused on Miller being in denial. Still loved Kai and Max though

I’m not sure what to say; I actually wasn’t really into the romance in this book, but there were other parts I did like well enough.
I think the main reason the romance wasn’t working for me was because their relationship was honestly a little too lust-focused. With the couples in the first two books I could really feel the emotional connection and support, whereas with Kai and Miller I felt like their supposed connection was rather forced and mostly based on their mutual sexual attraction. There was no real chemistry or depth.
Actually, the best part about this book were the family bonds. Miller and her adoptive dad, Monty, but also baby Max with literally everyone around him (even an entire team of testosterone-filled athletes) had my heart melting a bit. The found family vibes were what kept me somewhat invested throughout this book when the romance felt so lacking and boring.
I mean, for example, when Max called Miller “mama”? Yea, I’m not going to lie, that had me near to damn tears. Seeing that little boy love her so much, and her being split in two over it because she’s supposed to leave at the end of the summer? Absolutely heartbreaking.

“Mmm…Mama.”
Miller’s face falls. “What did you say?”
“Mama.” Max grins, so proud of himself for saying a name I now realize he’s been trying to say for weeks. “Mama! Mama!”
Miller’s head whips in my direction. She’s on the brink of an emotional meltdown while holding my son, who is looking at her as if every missing puzzle piece in his life has been put back together.
He settles himself back on her chest, quietly repeating the word over and over again while Miller rocks him and cries her fucking eyes out.
And I watch her heart break from the doorway while mine breaks for both me and my son.
All that said, I have to come to the conclusion that although there were some things about this book that worked for me, the overall result just wasn’t hitting the way I wanted it to. The romance felt so bland and unconvincing, I couldn’t find it in me to truly ever become invested in this book. I felt kind of bored most of the time.
