Still picking the pieces of my heart up off the floor.

That last 15% of this one went from 'hell yes šŸ”„' to 'omg no' so fast I think I set my spine back in correct alignment!

These stories are so beautiful and you are sucked in, making it hard to put down and focus on other things.

I'm glad I waited to read this one closer to the release of #3 because my heart can't take the wait to resolve that cliffy.

There’s a lot I need to form words for before I write a proper review for this book. For now you have my immediate afterthoughts:-

This book can be described, in the most truthful way, as RAW! THAT’S what it is. Unfiltered. Uncensored. Void of sugar coating. This is the rawest form of LOVE, HOPE, GRIEF and HEALING. I can’t even begin to fathom how can one write something so uniquely and ACCURATELY when so much on these topics has already been written.
You want to talk about naked truth? About REAL LIFE consequences of love? It’s varieeedddd complexities? Just grab this book.
Some things can only be felt and not described, but honestly, the author throws that notion away as this book depicted everything NEEDED for this story: aftermath of a war, phases of trauma, consequences of betrayals to any entity—irrespective of its divinity, and the power of acceptance needed for healing your mental and physical scars—how much ever twisted they are. The bonds, the feelings and the emotions. Everything was exquisite!šŸ”„
I need to let it out and give it to this author—for writing a story I ā€˜didn’t’ know I needed. I think I’ll cherish this one forever.

Formal review:

That’s how you write a second book in a series. That’s how you punch in the guts of your readers, for this isn’t only the Shards of Ophelia, but also the shards of the readers. 🫠

What this book encased was not just raw, unfiltered emotions in the realest possible way, but also a range of tropes that I personally am a sucker for.
This one portrays ā€˜Supportive Sisterhood’ so well I am shocked why haven’t I seen it often. And when was the last time you saw an emotionally open male, talking his heart out without much hesitation? ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

Grown males interacting with each other, let alone be with their other halves, without hiding their vulnerabilities was such a stirring thing to read. I am thrilled by the unabashedness of this book. Also, timely brotherhood banter along with their protective bond was a highlight for me. ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

The utter 360 turn of events had me groping for support in the first half of the book but I’m satisfied with whatever has happened. We got swoon worthy new characters who feel like they were always there, newer territories to explore and deeper insights in the lush warrior world. At the same time of this all, dangerous & highly staked political events were running parallel. The plot was as mind numbing as the emotions. The depth of everything this installment explored is hugely phenomenal. It’s fast paced, especially in the last 25% that it’ll keep you at the edge of your seat. So much happened there that I need desperate healing (and answers) for. 🤔

Author has teased its readers occasionally by giving them only little information to feed upon before third book comes out in march. I’m only happy it’s not very far!šŸ«£šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

I am obsessed. The more I read this series the more emotionally connected I feel to each of the characters and each of their individual journeys. This second book has done a lovely job of moving forward the plot in an interesting and dynamic way while keeping the reader invested. There is an excellent balance of suspense and enough intention to sate your immediate concerns but keep you on the edge of full resolution. TL,DR - you can’t help but keep coming back for more and more from this story and the characters.

OPHELIA!! I love her so much. And I love how her relationships have changed and grown in this book. I love love her band of warriors and what they do for each other. I’m intrigued by some of the new characters, interested in how they add to the story in book 3. And the love confessions… swoooooon

I adored Shards! I loved The Curse of Ophelia which is book 1, but book 2 WOW loved. I love a book where character development is prominent and did this one deliver - I felt like each of our found family grew SO much this book. Ophelia and a certain other character’s (will not name) growth were just next level and that comes down to excellent writing. For the plot forward folks there is definitely major plot movement, action scenes galore, a little romance, and did I say action scenes??!!
There is a moment in the middle of the book where I just had to put it down because I was so mad at @bynicoleplatania for putting me through such emotional stress. Anyways, I obviously persevered and made it past that to be put through MORE. Literally texted Nicole ā€œwhat the f***ā€

I have a parameter to decide whichever a book is good or not (based on my personal opinion): if I'd ever fantasize/write about the book while I'm reading it, then it's a five stars for sure.

I loved the first book in the series, but with this one I think Nicole outdid herself. Even though there were addictions in the characters, they were all so deep and so easily to recognize that I can't stress how it made me love the book even more.

The descripcion of the heartbreak, of how making difficult decisions leads to peace rather than torment was amazing.

I fell in love with Tolek even more (even though the end broke me)

Can't wait to read the third!

Great job Nicole!

OBSESSED
literally sobbing during the epilogue

I absolutely loved The Curse of Ophelia and have continued to fly through The Shards of Ophelia! I love the tension, as there is a war brewing that it seems lies on the back of young Ophelia. The writing style is fast paced and kept my interest throughout! There’s lots of action and warrior training, secrets, betrayals, political intrigue, and a little spice
