Idk what i expected. Anything bad was glossed over unless it could be blamed on others, mostly the media. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

I would like to preface this review by stating that I read this for a book club; I never would have picked up this book otherwise. Now, back to the regularly scheduled program:

Melania is a memoir about our current First Lady that I hoped would get into detail about her origins and life in general. After all, we may know a lot about Donald Trump, much of it negative, but we know next to nothing about Melania. Honestly, I was deeply disappointed, as I feel like almost the entire book was meaningless fluff written to make the reader sympathetic to her and Donald. There is a very short list of the interesting things I learned: Melania was interested in studying architecture before she pursued modeling, she started her vendetta against social media because of her kid, and she has some views that oppose her husband's (although he never seems to listen to her smh).

I found the tone of the writing to be too fake and pretentious. I can just envision her spewing at her ghost-writer and the ghost-writer needing to make it sound acceptable without getting sued. There was no self-reflection in her narrative - she never admits to any faults or regrets, instead handing the blame to the press or her team. There was also an entire page on the wallpaper in the White House, and for some reason that infuriated me... why are we talking about this when you skipped over entire events like Trump's sexual assault charges or tax evasion?

Overall, this is a book I would go out of my way to dissuade anyone from reading. Although it was very short, I feel like I wasted my time. I genuinely think I would have gained more from laying in bed contemplating my existence than I did from reading this memoir.

This book really was just a whole lot of nothing. A better ghostwriter was needed because she just sounded entitled and was explaining away all of her negative press. Olivia Pope would never let this fly. I would not recommend this book to anyone, though it did make me laugh a lot and truthfully, I have read worse. Still love you Melania bby.

I think I lost brain cells reading this. This book had so much potential - a mysterious and very public figure with an extremely polarizing husband finally tells her story. I wanted to hear about how their marriage operated, her response to all of the sexual assault stories, and her thoughts on her husband's views and behavior. Instead, I learned about the carpets she designed for the White House, skewed and defensive accounts of various events during their presidency, and a lot of blaming the media for how she was perceived by the public. I highly doubt she wrote this herself, and it's unfortunate how tone-deaf and superficial it comes off.

P.S. Melania, my girl, pro-choice does not mean they are only pro-abortion - they are pro women making whatever choice they want. Pro-life, however, does mean that they are against abortion, and therefore do not believe that a choice exists.

I would have preferred a longer more in-depth book. Topics that deserved a chapter each were just paragraphs. Loved the photo section.
