a very cute christmas romance! but my biggest issue with this book was the miscommunication… i HATE this trope. but the fake dating & just saxie in general saved it <3

Enemies-to-Lovers.
Holiday season.
Country Music.

What more could a girl want?

This is my favorite novel so far this Christmas season. I truly enjoyed all the back and forth between Max and Sadie. Their story wasn’t rushed but it was far from lacking, the authors perfectly wrote each character and their development was chef’s kiss. I can honestly recommend this to anyone looking for a quick, fun, holiday read.

My rating: 4.5 stars ⭐️

This book was just not it for me. I was counting down the pages until I finished. I thought about dropping it multiple times, however I pushed through. The only reason it doesn't get 1 star is becuase I finished the book.

I can say that it doesn't get better; it only gets worse. It felt like a Wattpad story. Maybe it is. I don't know. Anyways, the writing wasn't that good, the characters didn't have consistent personalities, and the two main character's only solution was to fight and then run away. It was repetitive. It was annoying.

It also just wasn't a Christmassy book. It didn't get me into the mood. It just felt like two 4-year-olds running around and hiding from each other and compalining about how they couldn't be together. It's pretty much just a story about a middle school relationship but it's acted out by people who are 28.

It was cute and loved that it was set in Nashville but most of the issues between the couple would have been solved if the other would just talk to them. They spent most of the last half of the book mad at one another over a stupid misunderstanding

This dragged on for so long. I hate miscommunication tropes and that’s all this book was. Like they’re supposed to be in their upper 20s and can’t have a conversation with each other about their feelings? So much up and down and way too many random side bits that didn’t add to the story. But I did appreciate the Taylor Swift re-record reference

I have mixed feelings about this book. The two MC’s don’t really have any reason to dislike each other in the beginning, especially since every single conflict they share is just a bunch of small misunderstandings. Sadie thinks Max is an entitled playboy, while Max thinks Sadie is a clout chaser who’s sleeping her way to the top.

The writing itself isn’t bad, and neither is the plot. However, I can’t really say there’s anything I loved about it either. There isn’t any real character development, and I don’t feel like we get to see much in the progression of their feelings. One minute they hate each other, and the next they’re both fighting big romantic feelings? Make it make sense.

But here’s my thoughts:

- Fluffy romance
- A Star is Born vibes, but make it Christmas
- Why can’t they just communicate?!
- All their problems could’ve been solved if they just talked to each other and we’re honest
- Why does Max keep walking away?

This book includes multiple different tropes, including: fake dating, enemies to lovers, and forced proximity.

Such a good read. You can tell that the author was inspired by the show Nashville. This book gave me the same kind of feels as the show did. TBH, I would love to see this story played out on screen. Finished it in one day, I couldn't help myself. it was too good, I was too invested to sleep.
