Did I like it or did I just not despise it as much as the first one? Either way, never has a book two done such a strong uptick, because this was not painful to read like the first. I would even venture a 2.5? It might have been because I was able to get the audiobook for this one and thus, was more easily able to ignore how utterly trash all the characters are.

Here is the thing that I think makes these books the most painful- the author really nailed the teenage voice, which is impressive, but also, unless you are one, teenagers are actually terrible most of the time. It's not their fault, their brains are not fully developed yet but it means they still suck.

The plot in this one had better pacing...sort of. Hints towards something bigger going on but the end 'battle' was over before I even realized what was happening, and also it came out of no where and made no sense. I ask you BEANIE BABIES. Reaaaalllly

WARNING THIS BOOK FEATURES A DOG BEING THROWN OFF A BUILDING
I was not ready for the above warning. Granted, the dog is likely alive and missing and for some supernatural reason that likely will be revealed in the third book but boy was I not emotionally prepared for that scene.
The rest of the book was fine. It wasn't astounding. A lot of the stuff in here seems to be a means for getting "not like other girls" points with the fashion, toy references (lots of beanie babies in this one) and music references. Even so, it's still fine. I'm only leaning towards a 2.5 for this one and I'm uncertain if I'll finish the trilogy or not but right now I felt like I read this to get through it rather than actually enjoying anything that happened in it.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book!
Not as fast-paced and fresh as the first book, but still some funny moments! Loved catching up with these characters!
Perfect fall book series! More campy and light-hearted than spooky.

More silly fun!

I was ready to give this three stars, in usual dropping-a-star-sequel-fashion, and then there were multiple times I laughed out loud during the last two days of listening.

(There was a nitpicky Arizona-related error that irks me a little, but that’s my niche and frustration at poor editing.)

It was still funny like the first book but I am always sooo lost whenever there's a fight scene. And some scenes are too wordy or overexplained but other than that, I still enjoyed it

I was really hoping for the two protagonists to end up together because Ive been expecting this book to be sapphic since book 1 but never happened. in the end the other fell for a different woman and the other is still hooked up with the bird. At least i got my sapphic, i guess but not the pair i was hoping. Dont get me wrong, I love the book but there were just a lot of development between them that i really thought they will end up together
