Unique, and hilarious.

This is the second Pratchett novel I have read. He is never not being funny. His stories are like an extended Python sketch. The plot is fun and interesting, but largely acts as a wriefrsme to hang the comedy on.

Pratchett ratchets up his insight once again, while still bringing the funny. I can sense his affection for his characters suffusing every page, and it makes every Discworld book a pleasure. Hogfather, though, has been one of my favorites so far (I'm reading in published order). The give and take of living with computers, the magic of Christmas (well, Hogswatch), the travails of nannying, the nature of the grimmest of assassins, and of course, life and death. Death, himself, continues to evolve and grow his personality, and he's one of the finest characters in any genre. TP threw all his best pitches in this novel, and I can't wait to see how he'll outdo his score in future books I haven't got to, yet.
