I really wanted to love this, and it was a struggle to get through it. 😔 the pacing was rough, the world building was idk just off? there were plenty of things I called early on in the story, but I will say that ending..didn't see coming! bonus points for that.
I saw this is book 1 of 3. Honestly probably won't continue with the series though.

Overall, I did enjoy this story, but there were some things that I struggled to connect with right off the bat.
The book starts off with the inciting incident, which did make it an intriguing intro, but because we aren’t connected with the character and we don’t know anything about her, the things that I would normally care about didn’t feel important. Then there’s a lot of time spent showcasing her new normal. But again, without the connection of the old normal, this felt flat and like it dragged out. With only flashbacks telling us how things used to be, it was hard to care about them.
The storyline does pick up… but it definitely takes time to get there. I have on good authority that the second book is much better, so I’m going to continue on.

This was just ok. It was a fun and entertaining listen. But overall, it was lacking in a lot of areas: character development, relationships and world building. I did really enjoy Winnie as a character.
