Ehhh I give it just ok. Very quick read—there’s nothing that stands out in this book from other dystopian novels. Similar concept to the horror movie “The Platform” plus added topics of how radiation and humankind destroyed the world and now they’re forced underground blah blah blah. I liked Takeshi but some of the lines were cringy tbh. Will power through the sequel though since the story is short & the plot twist at the end surprised me. Happy reading 💌

Basic dystopian read the same book 💯x in middle school. I guess this genre is making a comeback but anyone who use to read it knows this is nothing original. Divergent meets Silo dome-world. Also no spark btwn the love interests in my opinion.

They lost me at one meal a day, plus physical labor, and additional training to be able to fight. She would have starved to death and had no strength to fight. How can you build muscle when you don't have enough nutrients to survive?
fast-paced

If I had to read another sentence about how imposing and big and tall and wtv other possible way of describing someone’s “immense” presence and height I was going to go insane.

The way their relationship developed was so odd? Also there’s an insane power imbalance between them- In general the book felt so weirdly pieced together and whilst I’m aware that this is just the first book in the series, I felt like it had potential to do some really awesome world building, but just failed so badly

Didn’t care, writing felt juvenile

This is THE BEST book I’ve read so far this year! I haven’t been so enthralled in this way in a while and the plot twists were great and I have a new appreciation of poetry for sure again
