It has a really good and interesting premise that I really enjoyed but it needs more development. I don’t feel sorrow for the characters because I don’t feel like I really know them. I loved the dynamic between the FMC and the MMC at the beginning of the book but their story felt very rushed when the romance picked up.

A great book, with strong world building and characters that develop into a powerful cast.

The science fiction and conspiracies are on point in this book! I love a prison setting and this one did not disappoint.

The relationship did not feel organic to me, I would have needed some more development. I also think this could have used another edit.

The story itself was very well done! The ending was very abrupt but that just made me look forward to continuing in the series, so it was effective.

Honestly, I think this book is more 2 or 2.5 stars. Hear me out. It had A LOT of potential. The story itself could have been great, but the execution fell completely flat. The biggest issue? It was boring. I was bored. Absolutely nothing happened until literally the last few pages of the book and even then - it was lacking. The “romance” in this book made absolutely no sense. Again, the idea was great. A guard/prisoner forbidden romance? Sounds yummy right? Not in this book. There was no tension, no chemistry. Nothing. So when all of a sudden they were all about each other you have no idea where it came from. The MMC was completely dull and the FMC was whiny and turned out to be manipulative. So I didn’t care for any of the characters. Not to mention the random old woman that talks in third person. Ehh…yeah I definitely won’t be wasting my time reading the next book.
