Roberts is still very good at what she does, and the writing was great and snappy. This book just took forever to get going! Still highly enjoyable but not my favorite of hers

This was very 2004 but I also had a great time reading it? A lot of the characters had more depth than I initially thought they did, the Alaskan setting is so well described and researched, the mystery is engaging and surprising, and I was totally hooked despite the fact that it's a hefty book. I'm definitely interested in picking up more Nora Roberts, albeit probably one of her romances than another romantic suspense.
I saw a bunch of other reviews that said that this book started off slow. I totally disagree. I thought the character building was necessary. People who typically read romance novels may find the romantic portion of this book a bit slow, but I think this book is more a mystery than a romance. The romance adds a nice humanizing aspect to the characters and isn't overly cheesy. There was a lot of action and I really liked it. If you're into crime solving, you'll like this one.

I like this one a lot; and one of the few told from a man's perspective...however it needs an editor. More errors/mistakes than I'm used to from her.
