Reads like a second draft, switches tones abruptly and skips some key logistics which make it hard to read. The author defending her writing style in the beginning was off-putting and definitely felt like there were some personal slights sprinkled in. Some good spice though and the politics at the end got interesting, although the set up and world building was inconsistent. Some phrases were overused and that got annoying. There is potential but I’m not going to read the rest of the series to find out if it gets better.

Ew. Basically a rip off ACOTAR. Mature themes but the writing was childish and the book was filled with sexism, internalised misogny and slutshaming from the first page. Reads like a 12 year olds first wattpad novel after watching twilight especially bc of her silver hair (bfr), colour changing eyes, magically hairless body and her 5ft 3 status. Seriously, one of the characters is called Luna and she's an alpha werewolf. This got boring rq and the sexualisation of the fmc including the constant pointing out of the fact that shes an innocent virgin  who desperately needs to have sex according to literally everyone was really irritating. She was also bitchy to/ abou  every other female in the story. And the author literally only threw in the mothers abuse for pity points-so it seems as it was so badly written. The plot and worldbuilding is a raggedy thread barely holding the sexual assault/ harassment scenes together.  Also surprise surprise she has never felt this way about a (blue eyed blonde haired who's a towering giant with tattoos and plenty of money oh and also the king obviously! ) man before. Lastly the ml is a weirdo - " you're starting to look like a murder victim it's giving me a hard on "   , " you're definitely a virgin - your pureness is very rare" who specialised in toxic and borderline if not abusive relationships . Wouldn't recommend.

Ew.
Trying to summerize what I read to this point:
She is a virgin(mentioned around 17x) and according to her sisters and literally everyone she "needs to be fucked".
I do not have a problem with profanities but whatever plot could have followed I would have not been able to continue reading, but at least I know that the fMC is a VIRGIN who NEEDS TO BE FUCKED HARD, was there something elso about her ah yes her age but that I can't remember as it has not been mentioned more than 10 times...

Please please look at the content warnings before reading this book.
It’s horrible but weirdly addictive, like I want to stop but can’t

Terrible. I nearly dnf several times. The world could be interesting but you can’t really tell because the characters are horrible and I hated them all. They never get better. There’s plenty of smut but it’s honestly gross because both characters just suck. Do not recommend.

I’m going to be honest with you - this is not a good book. In fact at best the treatment of women in this is fucking disgusting. But am I going to read the next one? Hell yeah.

This was...... something. I was very tempted to give this book a one star but, like, here's the thing; it was entertaining. Albeit, in the same way shitty reality tv is entertaining. Like, "God, these people suck and this is such garbage content but why can't I stop watching?"

Anyway, this book is fun to read if you don't take it seriously--and especially if you hate read it with friends or something--otherwise just skip this one, I think. It's way too long to be this bad.

(Also, that disclaimer at the beginning was such a red flag to begin with. "caveman-like asshole" ???? ma'am???)

The writing is truly terrible. At least half of the paragraphs are simply restatements of the previous paragraph, as though the author wrote out the concept in different ways and for some reason never deleted the drafts. Every other word is “f*ck” as though the author thinks that makes up for a lack of creative dialogue. There are several times where the ridiculousness of what is written fully rips you out of the book. The is almost no plot for the first 90% of the book, and each scene is just another setting up for more sex. Definitely read the content warnings. None of the periphery or side characters develop a personality until the end of the book, when you kind of think you may eventually like one or two of them. I almost dnf’d several times, but other reviews insisted it was worth slogging through to the end.

Despite all of this, the last 10% of the book finally remembers that plot is a thing and sweeps you up into an actual story. I will read the second one, but with the lowest possible expectations.
