If I had read this before [b:Get a Life, Chloe Brown|43884209|Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters, #1)|Talia Hibbert|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1553318108l/43884209._SY75_.jpg|66903616] I might have given it 4 stars. It's a little bit rougher around the edges than the later book, but contains many similar ingredients. A wonderful, nerdy, legitimately prickly heroine, a great sister relationship, a neighbor romance, a cinnamon roll of a blue collar hero, a lot of sweet romance. It just didn't flow quite as smoothly - some transitions felt abrupt. I already have a hold on the second book through my library, though. Rough Talia Hibbert is still good stuff.
Also, do pay attention to the trigger warnings. I did get stressed out as I was reading this, because.

domestic violence, even fictional, gets me pretty worked up. I have no personal experience with it at all, but running into it spikes my blood pressure like nothing else. I can't relax until the abuser is in a grave with a stake through his or her heart, and sadly, in a contemporary fiction romance, that's an unlikely outcome

Brilliant town, Ravenswood. Talia Hibbert writes humans, very easy to step into their lives. Ruth and Evan are beautiful!

This feels more like a 2.5 I think? It was fine. Not bad. A non-offensive easy, quick read. Just boring.... but I will concur with the other reviews and say I loved reading a black heroine with autism. Just the surrounding story didn’t catch my interest and the whole “What Happened Two Years Ago” plot was. Disappointing
