Where should I begin? ( My first review so have mercy my fellow readers. )
It has been a while since I last picked up on this series,so I'll try to remember what I may. Marked were a mess? Yes,but I had to continually remind myself this were a novel for young adults/teenagers that yes the characters would be childish and not so great at making huge life choices being surrounded in mystery at the house of night. Which I may add is a whole life change from Human to Vampire. Zoey and her gang have no real guidance nor adults around for help aside the vampire teachers who Zoey must be cautious on who she can trust.
Loved where the story is heading it has great potential, the character and information on vampires and the goddess Nyx is beautifully built, but....there were obvious warnings and huge red flags that anyone would realize young or old and Zoey continued to blindly march her self into trouble while thinking lightly of the consequences. Who would be concerned over what boy to date when they're smack dab in the middle of a oncoming war? I kept thinking- 'When I where her age I would know when to forget about boys and worry about the life of my family, friends and I.' Who needs ONE boy to help you keep sane, when you are surrounded by friends? Tsk, tsk. I found my self groaning and rubbing my temples at all her choices.
Get it together Zoey! I love her, but she is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
You WILL find yourself getting frustrated with her, heed that warning! Seriously, this girl can't keep to herself and she reaps the bad karma in the end.
I hope that Zoey and her gang will mature throughout this book series. I'm not one to stop in the middle of a series I dislike. Wish me luck!

This is definitely a product of 2007. I found myself enjoying the reread. Sometimes the foreshadowing felt a little heavy-handed, but that likely has more to do with me vaguely remembering random details from the first time i read it back in high school. I’m definitely going to continue the series because i’m so curious about what Neferet and Zoey’s relationship is going to look like now!
Moderate: Blood and Kidnapping
Minor: Car accident, Adult/minor relationship, and Alcohol
