Read it for work. It was difficult to read the parts while they were actively in war. Would need more time to delve into the principles and implement them before determining the effectiveness of this book on my long-term leadership, growth and development.
I think this book was trying extremely hard to link war and the corporate environment, but there is clearly a big difference where no one should be dying in the corporate world. It also references so many war stories that you just get distracted from the point of the book. If you are a pacifist, you will probably stop reading this quickly, and if you are in the corporate world you may take some pieces of advice to taking more ownership. I don't think it had a mind-blowing message and the main takeaway for me was just to take the blame when things go wrong.

Rec from my boss! Honestly one of the better leadership books I’ve read (surprising considering this is not the typical material I gravitate towards). Even though the military stories were not super engaging to me, the overall themes of leading with ownership were great.
It was very interesting to read about the military ops and all that goes into each one. Paperwork, Strategy, Teamwork etc. I read this as part of my team book club. It had some good tips, but it was a bit too long on the military stories if this was meant to be a leadership book. It was a great military read, but I couldn’t get into reading it faster. It was not a book I was excited to pick up. Like I said, if it was just the military op stories and not the leadership lessons it would have been more interesting. Going back and forth from the on-site mission stories and jerked back into their business stories just didn’t flow smoothly.
After this book was recommended by my son's rowing coach, I added it to my to-read list. Since then, several others have also recommended it. The book is very masculine (especially the Audible version), and would have been of little value to me, if it didn't happen to be my boss's favorite book. From that perspective, it was very helpful in getting to know him, and his leadership style better.

Not a fan of the war tales which felt like the majority of the book.
Very good. Struggled to finish it. Lost interest 3/4 through.
To be completely transparent: I was required to read this book for an internship, and I was not looking forward to it. The mindset I had going in was very uninterested and skeptical. But in actually reading this, I was actually very surprised. This book had a lot of truly incredible leadership principles that genuinely surprised me. The leadership strategies in this are extremely wise and effective, to the point that I fully intend to implement them in my own leadership. I highly recommend this to anyone. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the fact that I did have some reservations about its glorification of war in some parts, particularly the U.S. involvement in Iraq. Other than that nitpick, this is definitely worth the read for anyone.
