Fantastic application focused book. Really enjoyed the audiobook, narrated by the authors. Definitely will reread.

This gave me an interesting insight on the war in Iraq and what it is like to be in the military, which is not a topic I usually gravitate towards. I thought the application to business was well done. There were anecdotal examples for every concept. I listened to it on Audiobook and I appreciate the fact that it was read by the authors, two Navy Seals. I appreciate the message of this book and I find it empowering.

I respect these two authors and their approach to transferring lessons/disciplines they learned in the military to civilian businesses and experiences. However, I struggled with this a little bit. While I still learned some good tidbits, a lot of it was just not quite applicable to my current life and work circumstances. It did highlight a lot of ways that my bosses and leadership at my workplace fall short (oop) but there wasn’t much to do as employees to stop that. Much of it needs to come from the bosses themselves. It also felt quite repetitive at times and the ending seemed abrupt.
If I ever find myself in a leadership role, I will definitely return to this book though because I think its are very valuable.

A great book for anyone in a leadership position or just anyone trying to better themselves. Extreme ownership is a great quality to have in a person
This took me way too long to finish, and it was honestly because I could not find myself invested in it to pick it up and continue reading. Jocko is a very impressive man, and the memoir part of this book is fascinating. Honestly I will find many takeaways from this book mainly applicable to my military life. But I was just generally uninterested in any of the applications to the business world - and maybe that’s the problem. I just do not care about business or anything related to businesses.
Solid leadership principles in this book though. I would recommend to those in higher up positions that are responsible for the development of many subordinates.

Own your shit. Nobody owes you anything. You are fully responsible for your life and work.
