If I understood more military lingo, I think I would have enjoyed the book more. It's heavy on stories of how leadership principles from the military world (75% of the book) can transition into the business world (25% of the book).

In their defense, the cover of the book says exactly what the book is about. I wasn't the target audience for the book, although I did enjoy it.

I recommend this book to leaders, especially to people who are familiar with military lingo.

Decent, but like many self help books could’ve been an article. Willink has some great ideas and I did like that he used specific examples.

ETA: One star. Eff this book. These dudes needed an editor. Bad. Or at least Jocko does. Leif's chapters weren't so bad. Even my boss who initially was enjoying this book has decided it's not great.

I'm giving this 1.5 stars before I finish because the bits of Navy stuff at the beginning of each chapter are interesting. The other 2/3 of each chapter is boring. If anything changes, I'll fix the rating, but I'm 5 chapters in so I doubt that will happen.

Note: I am reading this for a mandatory book club at work.

This book offers a lot of knowledge for those who are leading or looking to lead. It provides a base and great guide for leadership qualities along with experiences in each chapter of the authors who also happen to be U.S. Navy Seals.
For anyone wanting to better their leadership skills or just themselves in general should pick up a copy of this book.
