It was ok. I found the actions of the characters infuriating but extremely realistic. A very typical take of crushing on the wrong person and growing up. I found it relatable.

I was excited for this one and ultimately did not like it too much. I found the story boring and the characters unlikeable. I especially disliked Zena. She is a kid who knows little about anarchism or socialist theory and ends up embodying all of the stereotypical qualities of how someone who is uninformed about anarchism would think an anarchist would behave. Zena complains without doing anything beyond petty crimes.

I enjoyed this and following along as our main character discovers herself, but I finished just wanting a little bit more. I adore the art style though!

This book has a lot of character, and fits very well into that little non-fiction travel narrative genre of comics, reminding me in some ways (both tonally and in scope) of Jason’s On the Camino. This one of course is a lot more queer, and has in some ways a smaller and larger cast. If you’re into that sort of book, this one fits that bill. I really liked Sophie as a character, too, and related to her general oddness and also the way “contradictions” are pulled into the piece in the way these young people are going about their lives. If you’re into the whole youth going on a trip, and like things that don’t have overly dramatic endings, I definitely recommend it. Nice to have some stories that don’t end terribly, and that feel very much just like larger slices of life.

Me lo prestó la Caro. No me cayó bien la protagonista.
