This is an intense and dark read. But well done and keeps you on the edge of your seat to see what happens next.

I liked it. It was like the walking dead without the zombies. The narrator’s voice (I listened to part of it and read part of it) was annoying when they were doing the children’s voices, but otherwise fine. Clever idea and gripping story. Took me forever to actually read past chapter one but once I did I was hooked and finished it within 5 days.

Entertaining enough for 3 stars. Vivid, fast paced, interesting characters AND intriguing story but not completely developed in my opinion.

The tern fast-paced is overused, but it fits this story perfectly. This novel is breathless and insane, littered with many out-there moments, but somehow Crouch never pushes the tale into total "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME" territory. He comes close, but he keeps the tires on the edge of the cliff.

From the very beginning to the very end, this book kept me on edge. Blake Crouch is a fantastic writer! Each page was filled with nail-biting suspense. I didn't want the story to end. I'm happy to say the story didn't disappoint. If you enjoy an adrenaline rush this book is for you!

A dark, gritty thriller. One families fight for survival against horrific odds. Not bad, but I prefer Crouch's newer works.
