I'll be honest, after Firestar's death, I was afraid things would be not as good. And of course, my favorite Warriors books will always have the "OG crew" in them (Firestar, Greystripe, Brackenfur, Sandstorm, Dustpelt, etc). I was so happy to see that I enjoy the series just as much as before still. I like Alderpaw's character, and I was happy to see a little more of the characters that are usually just floating around in the background (Molewhisker, Cherryfall). I hate Needlepaw, but I'm sure she's written this way on purpose, to make everyone like her and hate her at the same time and all.
I thought the plot is well done, and the quest to find Skyclan was interesting to read from beginning to end, with the addition of the rogues that took Skyclan over addictive to read. It was also interesting to get more of a peek into Shadowclan as well.
Overall a well-written part of the Warriors series and am looking forward to reading the next one.

To be honest, it was difficult for me to jump into this series at first. Having the characters I grew up with (literally, I've been reading Warriors since 4th grade) die or be removed from the narrative spotlight was hard for me to swallow. But I gave the new characters a chance, and I was not disappointed! I found myself immersed in the world of the Clans once again, just like I had been as a child. The characters I held so close were still sprinkled throughout the story line, even though they weren't the main focus. At the end of the book, my heart was ripped apart when Violetkit and Twigkit were separated. This book was able to restore the love I had for this series and keept me invested in the new characters. I would highly recommend to those who loved Firestar, Jayfeather, Lionblaze, as well as all the other characters, to give this series a chance. You might just find yourself falling in love with the story all over again.
